Social,
environmental, and economic prosperity
Unprecedented
opportunity to gain strategic advantage lies at hand for the
environmentally sensitive corporation.
We
need not abandon our quality of life or the pursuit of profitable business
practices in order to forge ahead responsibly and ethically. A shift in
our perspective reveals new possibilities: Rather than viewing concerns
about the natural environment as a source of constraints, we can see them
as a rich source of inspiration – for business opportunities,
competitive differentiation, partnerships, and alliances.
Canopy
helps corporations reap the benefits of adopting a comprehensive approach
to environmental and wildlife stewardship.

Canopy's
advisory services
Canopy
advises corporate executives, board members, and environmental affairs
departments on wildlife stewardship, helps formulate environmental
strategies, and assists with implementation. We perform the following
services:
WILDLIFE STEWARDSHIP
We create wildlife programs to support a company’s strategic objectives.
ENVIRONMENTAL
CITIZENSHIP
We counsel corporations on strategic use of philanthropy and other
socially responsible acts to complement their emerging corporate
environmental strategy.
ENVIRONMENTAL
AWARENESS AND EDUCATION
We develop customized environmental education programs for a company’s
board members, managers, and employees, as well as their family members.
HABITAT
ADVISORY
Canopy advises clients on ways to conserve or restore wildlife habitat on
company-owned land and on ecologically sustainable building practices.

Canopy's
Nature Programs
Canopy
designs nature excursions and programs that embody the environmental
stewardship values our corporate partners embrace. Nature Programs bring
broader wildlife stewardship initiatives to life and are tied closely with
environmental strategy.
FIELD
EXPEDITIONS
Opportunities to join Canopy’s biologists in the field and participate
in research or conservation activities. For example, a company may want to
develop a program that gives employees the opportunity to learn about
tiger or whale ecology and participate in conservation-related research.
EXOTIC
RETREATS
Trips to some of the least-visited regions on earth, combining an intimate
retreat atmosphere with unparalleled wildlife-viewing experiences. A
corporation may decide, for instance, to hold a retreat in South America
so that executives and board members can see firsthand how scientists and
local inhabitants are collaborating to protect habitat for howler monkeys.
TEAM-BUILDING
PROGRAMS
Wilderness adventures designed to encourage camaraderie, team effort and
growth.
ENRICHMENT
PROGRAMS
Short programs for large groups in semi-wild settings and in-house talks.

Community
Involvement
Canopy
creates opportunities whereby companies and other community members can
work together to nurture mutually beneficial relationships between humans
and the natural world.
WILDLIFE
EDUCATION AND RESEARCH VENTURES
unite local citizens, schools, business, government, and scientists in
multifaceted efforts to find ways for humans and wildlife to live together
in harmony. Canopy’s Project CAT in eastern Washington, for example,
allows companies to join a project where K–12 students are actively
involved in the scientific study of cougars and their environment.
STAKEHOLDER FORUMS bring
together corporations and communities in a collaborative quest to find
mutually beneficial ways to restore or maintain the health of a local
ecosystem or bioregion.
INTERNATIONAL
SPECIES INITIATIVES partner corporations, media, biologists, and local
communities in order to generate exposure and funding for priority
research and education projects. Our Global Bear Initiative focuses on
15–25 bear projects, which will be publicized through a television
series featuring the eight living bear species and the biologists who have
devoted their lives to studying them.

Corporate
Environmental Strategy

Heightened employee morale and performance
•
New options for branding
•
Greater market differentiation
•
Increased competitive standing

An enhanced corporate image
Our
people specialize in the fields of business management and strategy,
biology, ecology, conservation, sustainable development, valuation
strategy, branding, and corporate image management. This team is available
in whole or in part to collaborate with selected individuals or
departments from initial assessment to strategy implementation. Canopy
also calls upon its affiliated
wildlife and ecosystem scientists, who are distributed worldwide, to
help identify suitable communities, species, and ecosystems for program
development and stakeholder and corporate integration.

communities and the natural environment can be rewarding economically,
